Boooooredom!!

3 posts in 3 days? Unheard of!
Anyways...
Maybe I've turned over a new leaf...
Ha. As if.
It's actually because I'm figuring on getting a head start on regular blogging before i leave for Barnabas. I've fallen out of the habit and I think it'll be a good way to keep in touch. Maybe I'll even post pictures and videos!!! (Nope. That's just wishful thinking, sorry to disappoint. It might happen once).
I spent a wonderful Christmas Eve surrounded by family and friends, presents, laughter and many moody moments from the younger kids (impatient to open presents, like me!). So typical in a family holiday. And this morning after opening our stockings and eating a massive hearty breakfast i proceeded to slip into a dreary slow boring state of being (you would be quite correct in imagining me lounging in bed all afternoon doing absolutely nothing). I ate my Christmas chocolate. I discovered cold sores on my lips (assisted by the lovely antibiotics that i'm on for my wisdom teeth). I revised my Barnabas list. I wasted at least an hour and a 1/2 on Facebook.
And now? wasting time blogging about nothing!
I DO have a crazy urging to go snow shoeing or sledding if a proper snowy hill can be found, I think that might help to alleviate my boredom. Or just a walk in the fresh air outside. Or a Starbucks coffee.

Merry Christmas!

Something I just love is when random friends I haven't seen in months drop in for a surprise visit. It happened this morning and brightened my entire day! I had just finished my shower and was half dressed when there was a knock on my bedroom door, I opened it to find Moriah and Chloe Kembel there with Christmas hugs and chocolate covered blueberries. Wonderful! What a fantastic way to spread Christmas cheer.
Also at our house right now are Leah, Kiara, Jane and Josiah (down for their naps). Family time is good any time of the year but the fact that it's Christmas just makes it way better. The turkey is in the oven, I finished my turkish delight this morning, sweet potatoes are boiling away, cranberry sauce was made yesterday, the fire is on downstairs, presents under the fragrant douglas fir upstairs, paper snowflakes in the windows, rain falling softly outside....so typical of Vancouver this time of year.
Tuesday morning I underwent my wisdom teeth extraction. And happily aside from a slight bit of swelling and a mouth that can't chew meat very well (much to my distress) I've been recovering quite nicely. I'm taking my antibiotics but stopped the T3s because my mouth wasn't very painful and currently have 2 ice packs pressed to my cheeks. I know quite a few people have been praying for a swift recovery and for that I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU!! Your prayers have been much appreciated and welcomed with open arms.
So i pray for peace in your families this Christmas, may you find joy in the Lord as you experience His love for you. Imagine sending your only Son into the world to die for a bunch of sinners! I'm constantly overwhelmed by God's overwhelming grace and mercy and I hope each and every one of you comes to a new understanding of that sacrifice this year.
Merry Christmas and much love!

The Barnabas Chapter

This coming January I'm happy to announce that I'll be relinquishing ties to the city and setting sail for Keat's Island for a glorious 3 1/2 (4?) months at Barnabas Family Ministries, taking part in the intern program there.
Long sentence i know. You have no idea how much I had to pare it down to something that is satisfactorily understandable.
You can find a full description of the Intern Program here.
Let me just suffice to say that i actually have no idea what to expect. Except maybe a lot of hard work. And numerous challenges that will push me to my limits.
I'm excited.
Your prayers will be much appreciated. I plan on updating this website as much as possible, but I'm not sure how much time I want to be spending on the internet as opposed to delving into the scriptures and helping out at Barnabas. We'll see.
Feel free to send me your snail mail address, I enjoy writing letters and would love to keep you all updated about my progress.
