Fifi the organizational freak

did you know that i love organizing stuff? not stuff as in events and all but stuff as in the back of the store, my room, the house in general, etc. it's so nice when you walk into a house and it's tidy! yesterday i went on a rampage in the back of the store (i had nothing else to do) and decided it was high time someone took initiative and did something about the pigsty we were working in. through the course of the day i succeeded in moving half the things leaning along the far left hand wall near the roll-up door and relocating them or getting rid of them (you may call me dumpster girl and laugh but really that is one of my favorite things to do. throw junk away. in fact the magic word really isn't 'please', it's 'throw it away'!). while moving one of the three folding picnic tables out all 30-odd shuffle board tops came crashing down, narrowly missing my head and hitting a dolly with 4 tubs of 'liquid siding' on it instead. seriously one of these days i'm going to kill myself. needless to say i was pressed to remove the shuffle boards from the floor and did so 2 at a time onto the top shelf of racking that we recently put up. thank goodness for that racking, i've fit so much on it that otherwise would be junked in big piles on the floor in the big open space and we'd be treated to regular reprimands from Dad about how 'cleanliness is next to godliness'. yes Dad it really was a good idea, although it was a hideous amount of work while we were in the process of upgrading.
so now we can actually see parts of the wall whereas before all we saw were large boards, shuffle boards, ladders, tables, and quite frankly, junk.
and now we're ready for the shipment tomorrow!! we get this Friday and next Tuesday which will be extremely good being as our shelves are emptying out fast. i just hope and pray that the loads will be BIG unlike the past few which have been pathetically small.
thats all for now folks!!
oh and cheer up, the rain can't last forever....

What is the point of blogging? what is the point of having a blog in general? why do we have this insistence on people peeking into our lives? can you tell i have absolutely nothing to say?
yes it was a long day at work, and i'm glad to be home. and being as someone mentioned off-hand the other day how i never update my blog i thought i'd better. no time like the present.
so here goes:
-I am fine
-Leah is pregnant (yay!!)
-Will is leaving (yay? no really i'll miss him)
-Kiara is 5 (october 11)

and that is really all the remarkable news that i can think of!! but actually it depends on what you would consider remarkable. some people want to know every detail of your life, when you got your last haircut, when you got your last speeding ticket, what you bought when you last went shopping and how much it cost....or even what time of night you go to bed! i don't mind. but i can never turn my thoughts into proper words so i apologize to any offended party who may find my blog boring and useless.
here are some more interesting ones:

My First Taste Of Europe

Bonjour! i'm finally in Europe! today Heather and I travelled to Brugges and wandered around for the whole day, did typical touristy things, took a billion pictures, i'm going to have some really interesting stories to tell! Heather and I wandered into a store entirely devoted to Tintin comics, and if you haven't heard of Tintin then you REALLY need to get a life!! but then we were kicked out because we were eating ice-cream cones.....but it was totally ok cuz the store was freakin overpriced, like MAJOR €€€€€€€€€€€!!! this one teeeeeeany-weeeeeeany tintin figurine was like 50€. anyhow it was nice to look.
And we wandered through this massive cathedral which i can't remember the name of (which is why i took a picture of the sign), and took way too many pictures.
and then we had to sit with this creapy old belgian guy on the train back to Brussels who was CONVINCED that we had "spanish blood in [our] veins"...........riiiiiiiight.
ok folks thats all for now!!
Ciao!

No Compromise

So sorry for neglecting my blog for so long! i've really been busy these past 2 weeks (almost) with work and life and the men's retreat and it all just started piling up and up and up!!! but now i'm back to normal and even my room is getting tidied today! and speaking of today, happy birthday Geraldine and happy birthday Colleen! (see girls i didn't forget...)
i have a book to recommend: its the life story of Keith Green written by his wife Melody, and its called No Compromise. and let me just say this one thing about it: it will really challenge you! it sure challenged me....
which is why i'm cleaning my room today.
why?
well one of the things Melody Green talked about in the book was how Keith was really lacking in self-discipline. one of his friends spoke to him about it and explained how its really a sin. because whatever hinders us from holiness (ie being lazy, watching too much tv, uncleanliness (which is really just laziness), and a whole bunch of other things associated with a lack of self-discipline) is not from God, and whatever is not from God in our life is sin!
And then it hit me. that was what i was like!
I've asked God to help me in this area of my life, and i know He will because He is faithful in everything!
So if any of my readers would like to pray for me that would be GREATLY appreciated.
Love,
Aunty Fifi
P.S. please read the book, it's really worth it!!

New Deck, New Hot Tub, and Potential New Music

yes its true, we've actually splurged and had our deck built by a professional instead of doing it ourselves! ahhhhh and what a beautiful deck it is! complete with a nice large hot tub (regrettably not full of water yet) and a nice glossy finish. so any time any of my friends feels the urge they can come over and hop in the hot tub and drink virgin margaritas and listen to cool music and just generally hang with the cool people.....cuz everyone knows that we're cool people. right?
well really its just the hot tub thats cool.....but thats entirely beside the point.
so now that you've heard about our great new deck and great new hot tub and received the open invitation to chill on/in it.....you may be wondering just what this "potential new music" is?
it just means that i'm planning on buying a new album but i'm not sure which one yet....
here are my options:
1. This Time Around ~Paul Brandt
2. Amore ~Andrea Bocelli
3. Call Me Irresponsible ~Michael Buble

Great albums all of them. but the problem is that i don't know which one it's going to be!!!!
i'd appreciate comments.....

New Pets

so we've done it again.
or rather, mom and heather have done it again.
chickens. two of them. and they're smelly, stinky, ugly, and extremelly useless until they get older and can finally lay some breakfast for us. but i'm having nothing to do with them, and as you may have guessed i feel quite bitter about it because pets in our family just don't like me. like seriously they hate me. our last chicken attacked my foot and drew blood for NO APPARENT REASON! and the same with the crow before it, junior.
well i'm not bitter, that was an overstatement, but you get the point. i don't like pets.
end of post.

the aftermath

so the conference was really good! i learned a lot about hamburgers and Agape, which are both very good things.....and allowing God to take control of my life. BOY IS IT HARD or WHAT!!!! i was really blessed by Bob Mumford's openess and vulnerability to the delegates, i find it so hard to really be open with people and seeing it in him in such a public setting was very encouraging for me.
oh and then there's the news about Von and Sam.....XOXOXOXOXO
AAAAAAAAHHHHH!!! *screams with delight*
so exciting.
anyways, have a good week and remember.....NCB!

Being An Aunty

So the other day my almost-niece Kiara was over with Leah, my almost-sister-in-law, and i told her (Kiara) she had to call me Aunty Fifi instead of Aunty Alpha, i didn't really think she was going to remember it but it seems i have yet again underestimated her grey cells! the next night while putting her to bed Ozzy and Leah explained again how when they got married heather would be her Aunty heather and mom would be her grandma and so on and so forth and I would be her Aunty Alpha. "NO" said Kiara, Ozzy&Leah, confuzled, asked why on earth not? and Kiara said "because sometimes she likes to be called AUNTY FIFI". hahaha you won't believe how happy i was to hear that! so now i'm officially Aunty Fifi....
Love to all,
Aunty Fifi

Tuna and Forgetfulness

You know how you get so caught up with work that you forget it's your day off? i was like that last night. 3 times i started making my sandwich for lunch the next day (today) and then suddenly realized that i didn't need to because it was my day off! it was such a weird feeling. but at least i have the tuna all made for tomorrow's lunch...
on another note....i'll be uploading new pictures soon when i have some more time! so stay tuned folks!

Tuesday, April 3, 2007

So lately i've been reading my friends blogs and feeling quite discouraged about my own blogspot....it seems pretty boring compared to theirs. And believe me you don't have to tell me it isn't cuz i know it is. so i've decided to turn over a new leaf and blog about something interesting.
like my work day.
HAHAHA!!!
but seriously, let me tell you what i did today:
first, i was late getting up, which isn't so bad when you come to think about it because it means i got to sleep in for an extra few minutes! but it sure sped my morning up, grabbing a banana on my way out the door and trying to find my stupid car keys in my bottomless-pit-of-a-purse. and my room was still a mess. of course not that it ever isn't but still, i've been trying to turn over a new leaf recently by actually putting my clothing in my drawers instead of putting them on the chair. and making my bed properly. yes, for those of you who don't know, i actually am a messy person.
second, the load from Costco was SO late today and it was TEN WHOLE PALLETS!! so from 11:30-5:30 (with a 5 minute lunch break and another 5 minute lunch break) i finished off 4 pallets! and i felt pretty accomplished. so if tomorrow Hannah can finish off 2 more pallets i can easily finish the load on Thursday (assuming nothing goes wrong and i make it to work on time and Nancy decides to come in and do the clothing and Dad hires a new secretary so that Ozzy can come down and deal with his big pigsty in the middles section of the back and Hannah doesn't have to leave early to do the post office stuff.....).
third, it was 5:30 about 5 minutes after 5:00 (time passes fast when you're really working) and before i knew it i had to race out the door so Rob could lock up and i still hadn't finished sweeping the back up so it wasn't too bad for Hannah when she goes in tomorrow and the cart was full of stuff to be put out on the shelves!
fourth, i got home and ate dinner (which was fabulous, Mom, you're a great cook and i hope i can cook like you can someday). it was relaxing.
fifth, here i am! sitting at the computer listening to "Lucky For Me" by Aaron Pritchett and blogging the biggest blog i've ever blogged before!! WOW!! i deserve a gold star or something!
and now i think i'll go read my Bible cuz i feel pretty dry right now.
LOVE TO ALL!!
Aunty Fifi

on second thought...

oh and just cuz i was ranting about brothers doesn't mean i don't like them. brothers are great! i seriously don't know what i would do without them, i'd probably grow up to be some selfich little brat with no patience or fighting skills, who cried everytime she got a scratch or got hit or something like that. brothers make you strong.

Tuesday, March 13, 2007

oh brother....

there's something about brothers that can just be so annoying sometimes. have you ever felt that way? i mean, YES i'm totally privileged to have 5 of them but sometimes they just irk me so much!
And that's all i wanted to say.
ciao.

Ozzy+Leah

Oh i forgot to tell everyone about my bro Ozzy!! he asked Leah to marry him and she said yes! so i guess you could say they're engaged now...
That sounds so wierd!!
But its really cool and I'm very happy for them...and i'll be an aunty for the second time!!!!
I don't have a picture of both of them but as soon as I do i'll add it. so stay tuned.....
ciao!

great music and great blog

i heard this amazing group sing at Missionsfest called Rescue. and their album is excellent. if you ever come across them somewhere, buy an album. seriously, they're so good.
oh and we all know Keith Urban is the best country singer ever so we won't go into that here....
for those of you who know my sister Heather (and even those who don't), she has a great blog called Happy Heather's Hullabaloo. lemme see if i can add a link to it cuz everyone should read it. its really funny.

resolutions? no way...

so my sister did a post about her New Years resolutions. i personally don't make any, unless they span a few years, and they're never about diets or excercise because who follows those things for more than a month after New Years anyways? i just have lifelong goals like: 1. get married. 2. buy a car. 3. go travelling. 4. have lots of kids.
but anyways, good luck with your resolutions even if i don't agree with them!
Happy New Year!
