Today, having the potential to be the most important day of my life, i went to work. Boring i know. but really, some days you just DON'T KNOW whats going to happen down at Surplus Sam's...
But in actual fact today was a rather average day spent pricing and organizing in the back (like most days at work) and fretting about whether i'd get everything done before the shipment arrives tomorrow. Which i didn't. Now that in itself is enough to ruin my day because i tend to take my job very seriously: when business is down, i am down, when business is busy and steady i am upbeat and energized. But while leaving work and walking to my car i decided not to fret about it this evening. I'd go home, eat dinner, relax, and read a book (something i haven't done in a considerably amount of time). So i did (and yet here i am, blogging about work? oh the ironies of life...).
I'm sitting comfortably on the couch downstairs in front of the fireplace in which a pseudo-fire is blazing (it's gas, i don't consider it "real" unless it has to be lit with a match). I just finished reading The Horse and His Boy, by C.S. Lewis, a marvelous tale about adventure, growing up and a bunch of other things that i really am not able to put into words. But i would recommend it to anyone! It's my favorite book in the Narnia series.
I must say, I feel very relaxed right now. The only thing missing is a good cup of Earl Grey tea with lots of cream and sugar.
Last night Rebekka and I with a bunch of C&C people went downtown to see the Olympic displays on Granville St. They were a bit boring but when we got to Robson Square to see the ice rink we were surprised by a loudspeaker announcement that said we'd be treated to a Lights and Pyrotechnic Show! Talk about perfect timing! There was an enormous zip-line from one corner of the square, across the street, to the other corner. Tower to tower. And performers zipped along while music blared and fireworks went off and huge columns of fire burst out of pylons positioned at the 4 corners. Fantastic! After that we drove to Original Joe's on Cambie and ate $10 'Desperado' pizzas and chatted and laughed and joked, and then went home. In bed before midnight!
Who is Rebekka? you may ask...
Rebekka is a girl of 24 who arrived from Germany last Thursday to stay with us until the end of July. She is here to learn English, sight-see, volunteer at Surplus Sam's, help a bit with the cleaning and cooking, and help a bit with Hannah as well. I'm glad to have her here, it gets a bit boring with just Mom, Dad and Hannah around. And it's also nice to have someone my age around, i'm glad i get along with her!
Goodnight for now folks!

On Calendars and Vacations
Do you ever get the feeling that you for sure have something planned for the evening but you can't for the life of you remember what it was?
I have put off buying a calendar this year for a number of reasons, all of them being laziness and/or procrastination, but its really put in a hard place because i'm so used to writing everything into the calendar and now that i'm without one....well its a mess for sure. i majorly double-booked myself this week because of it, and i don't even know what date it is!
Needless to say i'll be heading up to Chapters this very evening to find one, hopefully they STILL HAVE THEM this late in January...
Tomorrow morning, at the crack of dawn (before actually..in the dark of the night) Mom and I will be heading out the door to catch the early ferry to Victoria. My cousin Tammy is visiting my aunt and uncle for just a week and as i haven't seen her in 2? years it'll be a nice chance to catch up. I'm also looking forward to having a couple of days off work and away from home!
Se y'all when i get back!

Hello? Anybody out there?
Sometimes i wonder who even reads my blog...no-one comments on my posts and yet the number of views is always rising!
I've decided that its either creepers, people who are just looking and find it too boring to comment on, or a friend of mine that refuses to make themselves known. I'd love it if you actually commented on my blog posts! Even if you find them boring or irrelevant or repetitive or maybe only slightly interesting, this is a plea from me to you.
Its like getting notifications on facebook....that exhilarating little red bubble at the bottom that pops up when SOMEONE has done something in some way pertaining to you. Even if its just a comment on someone else's status that you "liked".
But anyways, enough of that...
Last night i slept for almost 12 full hours, and it genuinely served to eradicate my cold a smidge. I'm rather pleased with myself. I'm currently wearing a very wrinkled shirt and drinking a lemon/honey/ginger/cinnamon tea (or rather, concoction) and i feel quite golden! Also helped along by the fact that i'm also eating dark chocolate, an instant pick-me-up when i'm feeling down.
SO COMMENT ALREADY FOLKS!

Old post that I forgot to post. Way to go Alpha!
Christmas music - check!
Christmas lights - check!
Christmas tree - check!
Paper snowflakes - check!
Gingerbread - check!
Snow - none yet!
The forecast for Saturday is flurries and/or rain. Which when you live in Vancouver generally means rain...but one can hope right? Its definitely cold enough outside. Foot long icicles have already formed under the hot tub, frost is abundant and its constantly in the negative degrees. I'm excited!
Dad brought home the tree this evening, and being as he wasn't feeling very well i put it up myself. Its now in the corner and i'm waiting for a day for the branches to settle down before i decorate it. Alpine Fir. Tis a beauteous thing!

Remember, Remember...
Remember Remember the 5th of November
Of gunpowder, treason, and plot
I see no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot....
Happy Guy Fawks Night!
Which remind me, i need to watch V For Vendetta REALLY soon, every time i see the letter V it makes me think of it and then i remember the comic book and how savagely awesome it was. Which also reminds me, i think Will has that comic...i need to steal it off of him one of these days...so good...
Have you heard of the band Eisley? My friend Mary introduced me to their music not that long ago and i've become absolutely hooked! An incredible blend of ethereal vocals and quality music, they remind me of a mix between The Cranberries and Relient K. Weird i know, like mustard and gingerbread. But hauntingly good. You should check them out.

Fall Love and the Anticipation of Christmas
Guess what today is!?? Aside from being October 26th of course.
It's 2 months minus a day until my favorite time of year! WOOT WOOT! CHRISTMAS!!
It's practically just around the corner! I've picked a name out of the secret santa hat (the name shall not be revealed naturally) and i've begun planning what to get them, my christmas lights are out, my wishlist is in progress (to be posted on the fridge with everyone else's), the christmas music is playing faintly in the background, visions on sugarplum fairies are dancing in my head.....
But before we get into the soggy slushy winter christmas season...here's a list of some of the things i LOVE about fall!
- Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks
- Multi-coloured leaves on the ground. What a carpet of beauty!
- Foggy mornings that clear up in the windy afternoon
- Crisp air that burns your nose when you breath in too deeply
- Torrential Vancouver downpours that last for days and leave floods everywhere
- PUDDLES!
- The day you finally cave and bring out your scarves and thicker jackets
- Clean cars and seat heat
- C&C starting up
- Pumpkin Spice Frappucinos
So while it's almost that time of year i'm not all about the future, i do enjoy the present.
Happy puddle jumping folks!

Listening to: You're Just a Country Boy by Alison Krauss
You know that gratified feeling after having totally cleaned up your room? That is not the feeling I'm experiencing right now unfortunately. I got half way done and then I was somehow distracted by Facebook. How ridiculous is that! At least the floor is tidy...aside from the 4 Victoria
magazines which i am SO EXCITED to be soon reading! Woohoo!
Currently Reading: Swamp Thing: The Curse, Vol. 3
